There is a reason why collaborative delivery methods are sweeping across the construction industry and more and more owners are using them on their projects. Today approximately 50% of projects are delivered with some kind of collaborative delivery method, but each year that percentage grows by around 5-6% and is accelerating. Just like you, Owners are looking for cost certainty. According to FMI’s research, the low bid delivery method was voted as the worst for cost controls and Progressive Design/Build was voted the best for cost controls. And the dog-eat-dog atmosphere on low bid jobs makes it challenging to fight every day for what is fair. Collaborative delivery methods (Progressive Design/Build, Design/Build, CMAR, IPD, etc.) offer contractors/builders the best chance for a successful on-time on-budget delivery. But collaborative delivery methods REQUIRE collaboration to work. The more collaboration you can create amongst the team-of-teams working together to deliver your project – the better your results will be. And your people will enjoy the process much more than being in a dog fight.
