09/15/16 How Collaborative Partnering Enhances Alternative Delivery Methods

The NetWorkshop featured a panel of executives from the T1 team, a Q&A, and a Happy Hour.

IPI NetWorkshop

Over 50 of you attended our Partnering NetWorkshop at San Francisco International Airport on September 15th. Our panelists included executives from the T1 team: Geoff Neumayr, Chief Development Officer at San Francisco International Airport; Carsten Voecker, Director at Woods Bagot; Tom Taylor, Vice President at Webcor Builders; and Kent DeRusha, Project Director at Austin Commercial Aviation (pictured in the following photo by Jeff Rumans Photography). They shared the elements, strengths, and best practices of SFO's Partnering program, and how Collaborative Partnering is applied on their co-located design-build project.ntwkshp-32

Partnering, says Neumayr, helps everyone to be "soft on people, tough on problems." That attitude has the effect of keeping issues from becoming personal.

It resonates in the T1 motto that DeRusha later shared: "one project, one team."

Voecker spoke on the role Partnering plays in communication on complex projects-- which he says bring greater challenges, but also greater opportunities. Partnering sessions provide the forum for all the different parties to bring up their needs and concerns before going to work.
